What is Lifestyle Medicine?

In this new column, I will introduce you to the concepts of Lifestyle Medicine and the benefits these new lifestyle strategies can offer in your own personal health journey. Lifestyle medicine is an evidence- based healthcare approach to treat and often reverse chronic diseases. I, along with all of the other NEWC team members, want to provide you and our neighbors with as much opportunity as possible to get healthy, stay healthy, and live a long, healthy life. There are six pillars to lifestyle medicine:

  • Nutrition
  • Exercise
  • Reducing use of risky substances
  • Stress management
  • Sleep
  • Healthy Relationships

We look forward to sharing information about all six of these topics with you through these monthly articles, and hope to empower every reader to make wise decisions to restore and maintain their own health. It’s the way we live in Creston.
